Honalee Fun in the Sun

Today we were scientists! We predicted what might happen to toys and other things if they are left out in the sun. The kids predicted that things could melt if left out in the sun or change color. We tested this by making sun designs. Each student got a piece of black paper. On their paper they made a design with some of our plastic shapes, letters, numbers, etc. Then we left the objects on the paper all day. At the end of the day we discovered that the sun changed the color of the paper (not the toys)! The toys left their outline on the paper while the rest of the paper faded! What a cool and easy experiment to try at home!

AM Preschool

Yesterday we watched Jack and the Beanstalk on Tumblebooks and then painted our own magic beans.  Today, we played a game that the kids named "Tip the Castle".  You roll the die and put that number of beans on the plate.  Keep adding until the castle tips over from it's block perch.  One group made it up to 45 beans!

Calling All Mystery Readers!!!

Dr. Leslie Willey read Going on a Bear Hunt to the children on Friday.  It was fun to compare the book to the song we sing in class.  Don't Forget we would love to have you as a Mystery Reader.  If you are interested, let us know and we will set up a time for you to come in.

The weather is to great to waste anytime inside so we decided to have Lunch on the patio.

Honalee Week 2

Honalee had a very busy week as we continued to learn about one another and our classroom.  During Group Time, we took a few moments to focus on the different areas of our classroom such as: Dramatic Play, Creativity Corner, Math Manipulatives, Art, and Computers.  Ask your child what their favorite area is, besides computers!  Miss Bridget kicked off "Star of the Week" by sharing a few of her favorite things and family photos.  It is interesting to learn that teachers really do have a life outside of the classroom.  We will get to learn all about Miss Sarah this week.  We read some great books such as: Miss Nelson is Missing by Harry Allard, The Stinky Cheese Man by Jon Scieszka and Jane Smith, and Friends by Rob Lewis.  On Friday, we got to watch Ernest Borgnine read The Rainbow Fish online.  Then, we got to make our own scales to give to someone special.  Check out some of our pictures from last week:

Frank is investigating with the snap cubes.  He wanted to see how many he could snap together during Free Play.  Before we had to clean up we had more than 100!

Trip to the Library.

We took our first trip to the Stephens Library on Tuesday.  We hope to check out books for our classroom on our next visit.
