This week...

Ms. Michelle works with her group on imagery and adding details to our work.

We are continuing our ocean study in Roxaboxen.  Our collection of books is fueling our imagination for deep sea creatures to draw and add to our "ocean".
We are preparing to make a giant jelly fish and began talking about the different kinds of materials we could use for the tentacles.

What is happening in Wonderland?

The gatekeepers are guarding the castle.  Ms. Kim has sparked a huge interest in castles in the afternoon class by using an accent to pretend to be the gatekeeper and adding magic potions to the mix.

Can you catch bubbles with your dry hands, wet hands and soapy hands?  Which way can you catch the most?  A.M. and P.M. classes made predictions and the results told us that wet and soapy hands work the best.

What tools make the best bubbles?  Try this at home and let us know what you come up with.  We used straws, paper towel rolls, pipe cleaners and plastic soda holders.

Our day with bears and PJs was nice and relaxing.  Our question for the children at circle was: Whose bear is the biggest and whose is the smallest?  We found out together by ordering  the bears from smallest to biggest.

Under the Sea

Several of the preschoolers started drawing pictures of octopus and fish last week.  So we are using their interest to "dive" into an ocean study.  This week, the classroom has been loaded down with (or should we say a tidal wave of) ocean books.  In Roxaboxen we have spent our small group time looking at the books, talking about creatures that live in the ocean, and looking at different shells.

"Eye"- Spy

During our small groups in Roxaboxen, we have been graphing our eye color, finding similiar colors in the room and using our eyes to follow the lines of shapes and draw them.
The game Set the Table has also gotten a new twist...we bring a certain color object to circle.
Yesterday, it was RED.  Today was orange and tomorrow they suggested yellow.

Indoor snow fun

Snow and "icebergs" filled our sensory table this week.

Football!

Several "workers" constructed a stadium in the block area.
Of course we needed players, so Chas made these for us--

Mizzou vs. .......

K-State.   The final score?   Mizzou 79, K-State 0.

Zack shows us how to get into the stadium.

The Super Hero Workshop

Before all the snow days, we were busy in Roxaboxen making superhero masks, wristbands and shields.
Can't you just feel all the super-ness!?
